Summary:
Analyzes specifications, sets up and operates machine tools, utilizes machinist hand tools, fits and assembles parts to fabricate, repair, maintain and troubleshoot metal stamping dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Follow all standard operating instructions with a focus on safety Use sketches, blueprints, specifications and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools, and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency Study specification plans and blueprints to determine the proper assembly, alignment and calibration of machines Fabricate dies using complex machinery such as drill presses, lathes, and grinders Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs, and dies Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools, manually operated dies and progressive dies Interface/handle supplier and customer concerns, and work with team members to solve problems during the production process File and finish work-pieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly Select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications Inspect finish dies to ensure proper smoothness, finish and contour free of all defects Adhere stringently to all safety guidelines by keeping work area clean and wearing PPE Ability to work various shifts/overtime/days per week QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; proven related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate degree in fabrication preferred with at least 3 years of industry experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operational procedures and work instructions.
Ability to complete necessary documentation.
Ability to speak/write effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of metric system, ability to work with computers, mechanically inclined.
CERTIFCATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Crane license, forklift license.
(May be obtained in first three months of employment).
