Assistant Project Leader
Job Description:
The APL will lead technical teams in the areas of application migration and infrastructure in one or more phases.
The APL is responsible for overall project strategy, user interface and technology, and develops project plans, deliverables and schedules, and to ensure the teams are meeting proposed milestones and goals.
The APL is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the completion of a variety of internal projects that together lead to the successful deployment of software, database, or enterprise products and services.
The APL identifies procedures for implementation, coordinates project plans and works with ancillary groups.
Assistant Project Lead Responsibilities may include:
Develops and maintains productive working relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders and key systems users.
Oversees the project plan, project scope, schedules, resource estimates, project budget, issue management, risk management, change control and status reporting.
Assists users in prioritizing work and system maintenance requests.
Works closely with the users and technical teams to ensure that the business requirements are clear and well defined, and that the technical solutions meet the business requirements.
Recommends activities to IT management and users for approval.
Assesses alternative systems approaches for workability and economic feasibility.
Estimates staff resource needs for analysts, programmers, user personnel, consultants, and equipment.
Applies project management methodologies and best practices as directed by senior management or that are most appropriate for the project.
Plans team member work assignments and schedules and guides and monitors work performance.
Develops, manages and reviews project documentation including project plan, budget documentation and status reports.
Communicates project status regularly to IT management and project stakeholders.
Formalizes project activities and guides a project acceptance as a production system.
Assistant Project Leader Requirements:
BS or BA degree in business administration or related technical field or equivalent experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships with technical and non-technical teams alike at all levels including senior management.
Develops, manages and reviews project documentation including project plan, budget documentation and status reports.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide the efforts of small or large teams to successful project completion.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once, as required, and prioritize appropriately.
Skills with standard project management tools including MS Project, MS Office, Visio and Excel (should know this very well) Experience with standardized project management methodologies and processes APL must have broad technical knowledge and experience in build-outs, installations, migrations, roll-outs, upgrades, configuration, architecture and design of infrastructures and networks that may involve the following technologies:
Windows, Unix, Linux, Citrix, LAN, WAN, SAN, Cisco, HP, Outlook/Exchange, IE, Switches/Routers/Hubs, TCP/IP, FTP, IIS, DNS, Network Connectivity, LDAP, SSL, Ethernet, Firewalls, RAID, Helpdesk, Desktop Job Types:
